Having made Australia my home in 1998, I deeply value the opportunities this country has provided and the freedom we enjoy to celebrate our cultural traditions and religious beliefs.
Australia’s multicultural success is built upon shared values of respect, fairness, opportunity and belonging.

Festivals such as Diwali demonstrate how we can proudly preserve our cultural heritage while contributing to our shared Australian future.

For our younger generations, these celebrations provide an important connection to their family traditions, languages, customs and spiritual values.

They also offer an opportunity to share the beauty of Hindu culture with friends and neighbours from different backgrounds.

I believe that we do not have to choose between celebrating our heritage and embracing our Australian identity. Both can enrich one another.

Our strength comes from recognising what makes us unique while appreciating the values that unite us.
