Sajid Nadiadwala Announces Three-Film Australia Deal During NSW Premier Chris Minns’ Mumbai Visit

Heyy Babyy 2 will return to Australia as part of a major new collaboration between Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment and the Australian screen industry.

Leading Bollywood producer Sajid Nadiadwala has announced plans to film three upcoming productions in Australia, including the highly anticipated Heyy Babyy 2.

The announcement was made during NSW Premier Chris Minns’ visit to the Mumbai headquarters of Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment on Thursday, 3 September 2026.

Premier Minns visited the production company as part of his official India mission from 31 August to 3 September, aimed at strengthening economic, cultural and business ties between New South Wales and India.

During the meeting, Nadiadwala announced that three forthcoming NGE films would be shot in Australia through a collaboration involving Sydney-based production company Film and Casting Temple.

The first confirmed production is Heyy Babyy 2, the sequel to the popular 2007 Hindi comedy Heyy Babyy. The original film, starring Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Riteish Deshmukh and Fardeen Khan, was filmed extensively in Sydney and other Australian locations.

Details of the sequel’s cast, director and production schedule have not yet been announced.

Welcoming the decision, Premier Minns described Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment’s commitment as a strong vote of confidence in Australia’s screen industry.

He said major Indian film productions create opportunities for Australian crews, creative professionals and local businesses, while also presenting NSW destinations to millions of viewers across India and around the world.

The Premier highlighted NSW’s diverse filming locations, experienced production workforce and strong Indian community as key advantages for filmmakers seeking to produce projects in Australia.

Nadiadwala said the company’s previous filming experience in Australia had been memorable, praising the country’s natural beauty, professional crews and welcoming production environment.

The new collaboration comes as Australia and India deepen their screen relationship through the Australia-India Audio-Visual Co-Production Agreement. The treaty is designed to support eligible joint productions and encourage stronger creative and commercial cooperation between the two countries.

Australian filmmaker Anupam Sharma, who was involved with the original Heyy Babyy shoot in Sydney, welcomed NGE’s return and said the partnership could generate substantial opportunities for the Australian and Indian film industries.

For Australia’s Indian diaspora, the decision also carries cultural significance. The original Heyy Babyy helped bring Sydney’s landmarks and lifestyle to Bollywood audiences nearly two decades ago. Its sequel is now expected to renew that connection for a new generation of cinema-goers.

The names of the other two productions included in the three-film collaboration are expected to be revealed at a later date.
