Bastille Festival Unveils 2026 Dates with an Expanded Circular Quay Footprint

Sydney’s iconic French festival returns from 16–19 July 2026, offering four unforgettable days of food, wine, art and celebration — all in the heart of the city and completely free to attend.

Sydney, Australia – Tuesday, 21 April 2026

For over 13 years, Bastille Festival has been bringing a true taste of joie de vivre to Sydney each July, welcoming hundreds of thousands of Francophiles, food and wine lovers, music fans, and anyone simply chasing a great atmosphere and good times.

This beloved winter tradition returns once again, filling the city with the colours, flavours and spirit of France. From gooey raclette and chilled rosé to open-air cinema and cabaret performances, every corner of the festival is an invitation to celebrate joie de vivre.

“Every year, our aim is to share a slice of France right in the heart of Sydney,” says Vincent Hernandez, Founder and Festival Director. “This edition promises to be our most ambitious so far — larger, more daring and more immersive — inviting visitors on a true ‘Tour de France’ of flavours, culture and experiences.”

Whether you’re a devoted Francophile or just beginning to discover France’s rich culinary and cultural world…

Bastille Festival invites you to four indulgent days of gourmet food, exceptional wines, vibrant entertainment, and a distinctive French charm that brings the city to life.

Fall Back in Love with the Taste of France

A true culinary journey through France, right in the heart of Sydney.

Bastille Festival has become one of Sydney’s favourite winter food escapes, and the 2026 edition is shaping up to be its most exciting yet.

From iconic French staples like raclette, escargots, crêpes and macarons to exclusive chef collaborations and globally inspired dishes reinterpreted with French flair, there’s something to surprise every palate.

Visitors will be able to explore more than 130 exhibitors and over 80 dishes, featuring a handpicked mix of regional classics, indulgent sweet treats, and creative modern twists.

“Food is such a defining part of French culture, and it’s equally central to Bastille Festival,” says Hernandez. “Our goal is to make every dish feel like a journey, whether it’s a traditional specialty or something completely new inspired by French cuisine.”

A French Journey, Poured by the Glass

At Bastille Festival 2026, Taste France x Vin de France comes to life as a bold, modern wine experience celebrating freedom, quality and creativity.

Designed as a high-energy discovery space, the activation invites festivalgoers to explore a curated selection of approachable French wines through tastings, immersive masterclasses and playful sensory moments.

Complementing the wine offering, a premium winter drinks program will feature mulled wine, spiced cider, craft beer bars, and a refined cocktail selection inspired by French technique and seasonal ingredients.

“Wine at Bastille Festival is never just about tasting — it’s about storytelling,” explains Hernandez. “Every glass reflects a place, its heritage, and its people.”

With more than 18 bars across Circular Quay and The Rocks, the Festival offers a considered selection of experiences at every turn.

Celebrating French Art, Music & Culture

For 2026, Bastille Festival expands beyond its traditional footprint for the first time through a collaboration with the city’s busking program — activating spaces around the quays and linking precincts through a connected musical journey.

Music, at the heart of the Festival, will now flow beyond Circular Quay, transforming the city into a wider stage of sound, performance and discovery.

This year also sees the introduction of a French-inspired flea market at Gateway Plaza, bringing together vintage finds, artisanal goods and curated stalls, with a strong focus on community and charity involvement.

With over 110 free performances, Circular Quay and its surrounds come alive with music, movement and spectacle. A distinct French flair runs throughout the program — from cabaret and roaming mimes to a selection of incontournables, bringing unmistakable Parisian energy to every corner.

“At its core, Bastille Festival is about connection — to food, to culture, and to each other,” says Hernandez. “It’s about creating joyful, unexpected moments that bring people together.”

With new surprises still to come, 2026 promises to take the experience even further.
