The NSW Opposition has announced a new group of Shadow Parliamentary Secretaries, outlining how responsibilities will be shared across policy areas ahead of the next state election.
The appointments cover a wide range of portfolios, including health, education, housing affordability, cost of living, emergency services, infrastructure, regional development, multicultural affairs, and community wellbeing. Several roles have been newly created, reflecting emerging areas of policy focus such as men’s health, rental affordability, and the prevention of regional crime .
Shadow Parliamentary Secretaries work alongside the Shadow Ministry, supporting policy development and providing oversight across government portfolios. The structure is intended to allow closer attention to specific issues affecting households, businesses, and communities across New South Wales.
Among the newly established or expanded roles are:
- Men’s Health
- Home Ownership and Rental Affordability
- Cost of Living
- Multiculturalism
- Prevention of Regional Crime
The appointments also place emphasis on regional NSW, with multiple positions focused on regional roads, agriculture, tourism, emergency services, and local government.
