Meditating for Community Healing After Bondi Tragedy

By Seema Lathker, Senior Art Of Living Teacher
In the wake of the Bondi Beach tragedy, The Art of Living Foundation brought the community together through a free, public session of breathwork and meditation, creating a quiet space for solidarity, healing, and peace.

Held on Sunday, 21 December 2025, at the Woollahra Double Bay Library, the World

Meditation Day gathering invited people from all walks of life to pause, breathe, and reconnect with a sense of shared humanity. The session introduced simple, practical breathing techniques and a guided meditation designed to calm the nervous system and support emotional balance, tools that communities worldwide have used for decades during times of stress and grief.

The Art of Living shared that the intention behind the initiative was to “look after each other” and respond to difficult moments by promoting love, not hate. Attendees described the hour as grounding and deeply comforting, with a collective intention to hold the affected families and the broader community in compassion.
