Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has strongly condemned the shooting at Bondi Beach in Sydney, describing it as a “ghastly terrorist attack” and expressing deep condolences to the families of those who lost their lives.
In a post shared on social media, Prime Minister Modi said the attack, which occurred during celebrations marking the first day of the Jewish festival of Hanukkah, was a senseless act of violence targeting innocent people.
“Strongly condemn the ghastly terrorist attack carried out today at Bondi Beach, Australia, targeting people celebrating the first day of the Jewish festival of Hanukkah,” Prime Minister Modi said.
“On behalf of the people of India, I extend my sincere condolences to the families who lost their loved ones. We stand in solidarity with the people of Australia in this hour of grief.”
Reaffirming India’s longstanding position against terrorism, Prime Minister Modi emphasised that the country maintains zero tolerance towards terrorism and supports global efforts to combat all forms of extremist violence.
“India has zero tolerance towards terrorism and supports the fight against all forms and manifestations of terrorism,” the statement added.
