We are deeply concerned about the racial attack on a law-abiding Australian citizen of Indian heritage in the Parramatta Shopping Centre in Western Sydney on 10 November 2025, in the early evening.
It is not the first time a person from Indian or Indian Sub-continental heritage has been subjected to racial violence in Sydney or Australia.
We appreciate that the paramedics and hospital staff attended to his significant injuries.
We are not sure if this attack was inspired by the bias and myth publicly expressed by a politician in the recent past, but we are certain that unless immediate actions are taken, more such attacks may take place with the imminent debate on Australian Immigration that is currently swirling in the air.
We are aware that some parliamentarians are using their Facebook and other social media pages to speak against this violence.
From their speeches at various community gatherings and public statements, we know that the Premier of NSW and the Prime Minister of Australia consider migrants as highly valued residents. We are all thankful for those gestures and sentiments.
But we believe it is time to take more substantive action immediately to prevent any future attacks.
We also believe all Parliamentarians have a responsibility to take immediate action to stop this kind of racial attack on any Australian from any heritage, including Indian, Sri Lankan, Chinese, and Middle Eastern backgrounds.
Strathfield Australians of Indian Sub-continental Heritage (SAISH) strongly condemns this racial attack and calls upon all NSW and Federal Parliamentarians to take immediate legislative and legal measures to stop this kind of racial violence.
SAISH strongly demands that:
• All parliamentarians in the NSW Parliament, led by the Premier of NSW and the Leader of the Opposition, formulate and adopt appropriate legislative measures to put a stop to any such racial violence.
• That the Code of Conduct for the parliamentarians be reviewed and appropriate provisions be implemented urgently and enforced, to stop parliamentarians from making biased comments targeting any particular group of citizens or residents based on their heritage.

Promoting multiculturalism, social harmony and unity in Australia
• All parliamentarians in the Federal Parliament, led by the Prime Minister of Australia and the Leader of the Federal Opposition, formulate and adopt appropriate legislative measures to put a stop to any such racial violence anywhere in Australia.
• That the Code of Conduct for Federal Parliamentarians be reviewed and appropriate provisions be implemented urgently and enforced to stop Federal Parliamentarians from making biased comments targeting any particular group of citizens or residents based on their heritage.
SAISH believes all citizens in Australia deserve a climate where, regardless of their heritage, they can pursue their dreams fearlessly — visiting any place they need to visit and pursuing whatever objectives they aspire to, within the bounds of the Australian Constitution and legal framework.
Founded by migrants coming from a land of 1.4 billion dreams, SAISH believes that leadership from the Prime Minister of Australia, the Premier of NSW, and all elected parliamentarians is crucial for building an increasingly non-discriminatory and socially harmonious Australia — an Australia of one people, working together, moving the country in one direction to build a more equitable, non-discriminatory, prosperous, and harmonious future for all Australians.
