New Delhi, Sep 15 — Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting and Electronics & IT, Ashwini Vaishnaw, underscored the transformative impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education, healthcare, and agriculture.
Highlighting local-level progress, Vaishnaw said AI is helping farmers, improving healthcare services, and boosting learning outcomes for children. He cited the example of Tonk, Rajasthan, where AI-enabled tools nearly doubled students’ mathematical proficiency. Similar results have been reported from Maharashtra and Himachal Pradesh.
The minister also announced that India will host the AI Impact Summit in February 2026, showcasing its advancements in the field. The summit has previously been held in London, Seoul, and Paris. Ahead of the event, NITI Aayog has reviewed AI-driven projects across multiple districts.
B.V.R. Subrahmanyam, CEO of NITI Aayog, stressed AI’s potential to accelerate innovation and growth. He noted that effective adoption could help India achieve 8% economic growth and add up to $2 trillion to GDP by 2035.
Subrahmanyam further assured that, like the computer revolution, AI will generate new opportunities rather than reduce jobs. “AI will create new avenues, just as computers ended up creating more jobs instead of cutting them,” he said.
