Sydney, Australia – After the historic and resounding success of the International Gita Mahotsav (IGM) in April 2023, Australia once again prepares to host this landmark spiritual and cultural event on the 3rd and 4th of May, 2025 in Sydney. Under the inspiring theme, “From Knowledge to Practice: The Gita in Daily Life,” the upcoming Mahotsav promises a meaningful exploration of how the timeless wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita can guide modern lives.
Originally celebrated annually in Kurukshetra, India – the birthplace of the Gita – this global festival has expanded to numerous international locations, including the United Kingdom, Mauritius, Canada, Sri Lanka, and Australia, under the visionary leadership of Gita Manishi Swami Gyananand Ji Maharaj.
In 2023, the International Gita Mahotsav saw a historic collaboration, bringing together over 65 diverse social, cultural, and religious organizations across Australia. This unprecedented unity resulted in grand celebrations, including presentations of the Bhagavad Gita to the Australian Federal Parliament in Canberra and the New South Wales Parliament, symbolizing harmony, multiculturalism, and universal brotherhood. The event, spread across multiple venues, culminated beautifully with an enchanting Gita Arti and vibrant cultural performances at the Parramatta River Foreshore, witnessed by more than 7,500 attendees from various communities.
Following the tradition, IGM 2025 will be jointly organized by over 65 social, cultural, and religious organizations, reflecting the solidarity and collaborative spirit that underpins this grand event. The two-day festival is set to commence with an engaging and insightful conference on Saturday, 3rd May, hosted at the University of Western Sydney, Parramatta. This conference will feature distinguished speakers who have achieved excellence in their respective fields through the guiding principles of the Gita, with tailored sessions dedicated to youth, women, and business executives.
On Sunday, 4th May, the celebration continues with a spiritually uplifting Gita Yagya in the morning at Sri Mandir, Auburn. The festivities will conclude with vibrant cultural performances, devotional chants, and a grand Gita Arti at Parramatta River Foreshore, bringing communities together to experience peace, unity, and spiritual joy.
IGM 2025 emphasizes community involvement, volunteerism, and collective effort, entirely organized through community donations, with no government funding involved. It aims to inspire practical application of Gita’s teachings, promoting a message of harmony, ethical living, and universal values among the wider community.
The International Gita Mahotsav invites everyone to join this unique spiritual and cultural journey, reinforcing connections and building bridges across diverse cultures. This event is an opportunity for all to witness the transformative power of ancient wisdom applied practically in modern times.
