EMPOWERING WOMEN: INSPIRING CHANGE

Message from Sumati Advani, Chair of UIA Women’s Steering Committee, Winner of Strathfield Local Woman of the Year 2017

For a country to progress, it is essential that we empower both men and women and help them reach their full potential. One of the key objectives of UIA Women’s Steering Committee is to provide settlement support to Women of Indian origin in Australia, especially newly arrived migrant women, who find themselves isolated in a new environment.

raThe key objectives of United Indian Association’s Women’s Steering Committee are:

  • To provide a social networking platform for Australian women of Indian origin.
  • To provide information to women especially new migrants about the support services available by inviting speakers from different agencies and service organisations. UIA holds several information forums on women’s health matters, managing money and superannuation, managing marital issues such as managing relationships and life after divorce and domestic violence.
  • To act as the facilitator and work with the Indian and Australian governments to assist women in distress.

Each year, all around the world, International Women’s Day (IWD) is celebrated on March 8.

United Indian Association celebrates this wonderful occasion every year. I look forward to your participation in this year’s IWD celebrations to be held on 17March 2018 at Haveli Function Centre, 57-59 Main Street Blacktown.
