Western Islamic Multicultural Association (WIMA) is a newly established non-profit organisation and its purpose is to organise and celebrate social, cultural and educational activities while engaging with the wider Australian community. WIMA implements its programs in collaboration with other community organisations.
WIMA is organizing a MEGA Eid Festival on 11 September 2016 to be held at the Athletic Grounds in Victoria University Wyndham Sporting Complex. A colourful festival is being organised by Western Islamic Multicultural Association (WIMA) on the occasion of Eid- al-Adha, which is a significant annual Islamic observance for Muslim communities across the globe. It’s an occasion to share message of peace, respect, giving and receiving.
WIMA is organising this MEGA event to spread the message of peace, love, respect and harmony. It’s an open event for general public to participate, interact with each other, and collect happiness and joy. The event is being organised in collaboration with over 20 media and community organisations.
The event will start from 10am on 11 September and consists of activities including songs, stage performances, stalls displaying and selling multicultural foods and products. A variety of swings and rides have been organised for children of different age groups. “Based on last years’ experience, we are expecting more than 5,000 participants to attend the event. MEGA Eid Festival will be an open public event for families and friends – there will be entertainment for all age groups. So come along and join us for an enjoyable day,” Executive Committee WIMA said.
