It could have been a regular Bollywood gig on a saturday evening, and awaiting Sydney audience expecting a musical event that they will enjoy & also forget in a week’s time. But it wasn’t the case with ‘Pritam Live in Concert’ in Sydney at Whitlam Leisure Centre Liverpool on March 12, 2016.
As the Bollywood’s most successful music director in last 10 years, with more than 107 films & hundreds of awards, Pritam Chakraborty & his amazing team of popular singers had shown what an unforgettable & entertaining concert might look & feel like. Pritam, dotingly known as Pritam Da, has gifted the Bollywood music lovers of Sydney an evening that covers it all, from Old Hindi melodies, song of his mother tongue Bengali, singing with local singers, holi songs to his most popular songs like Gerua, Badtameez Dil, Lat Lag Gaye, Teri Ore & many others.
Though the pre-dominantly sports venue witnessed many other Bollywood musicals, the state-of-art light and sound engineering by experienced & respected audio visual artists from India took the stage to an unmatchable calibre.
The 5 singers of Pritam Da, Antara Mitra, Sreerama Chandra, Nakash Aziz, Aditi Singh Sharma & Benny Dayal, each are popular singers with many Bollywood songs & stage performances under their belt, and holds massive fan following themselves. Their mesmerizing & unique styles and tone have brought the variety in presentation of songs & to the visual aspect of the show. Pritam Da & his singers encouraged the audience to sing along with them, dance with most of the numbers and even send requests on notes especially during Gerua, the entire audience’s waving hands & flashing mobile lights literally created a dream sequence in the hall. The 4 singers, Antara, Nakash, Sreeram & Aditi’s soft rendition of the Old Hindi Films songs just with keyboard playing in background touched the hearts of the audience.
The show also showcased Pritam Da singing with winners of SHINE with Pritam Contest, the platform created to encourage & promote local singers, and the winners Aditi & Imtiaz well represented Sydney singers with their Pritam’s number ‘Tera Hone laga Hu’.
The show ended with festive ‘Holi’ cheers & Pritam Da was seen sharing colors with present audience while singing ‘Rang Barse’ and his popular track ‘Balam Pichkari’. Many were seen applying colours on and offstage too!
A well put together event, Poth Productions, a theatrical community organization who organized a Bollywood Musical for the first time. Big hands to them for such a brave & new initiative of bringing in a Music Director with such big & talented team of singers & musicians. The key event promoters of the event were KMS & Road to Bollywood, & the EXCLUSIVE Media Partner was Indus Age, Australia’s No.1 South Asian Magazine. The Title sponsor was Maharaja’s Haveli, Diamond Sponsorship by MoneyGram & Gold Sponsorship by Yupp TV. Strategic TV Partner was ZEE TV Asia Pacific.
The event organizers, promoters, media partner & sponsors did an amazing job in organizing & managing a concert of this scale & presenting a truly unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime experience for Sydneysiders.
As most reviews quotes: “One of the best Bollywood shows Australia ever witnessed”. We hope to see Pritam Da back with his team once again in near future.
