Former Miss World Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will make her first visit to Australia at Royal Randwick

Longines Ambassador of Elegance Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, regarded as India’s leading actress and former Miss World,will present the Longines Prize for Elegance to the female judged most elegant at the Longines Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Royal Randwick on Saturday 9th April.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will make her first visit to Australia to attend the prestigious event and present the winner with their prize of a steel and diamonds Longines Dolcevita timepiece that embodies the brand’s values of elegance, tradition and performance.

“We always say elegance is ornate and it fits perfectly for Longines to be part of the equestrian horse racing sporting events,” said Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.  “The horse is such an elegant, powerful, strong and beautiful animal and to witness its power, the elegance at these prestigious events, together with the jockeys, it’s truly keeping with the spirit of Longines,” the queen of beauty added.

The Longines Prize for Elegance will be presented directly opposite the Mounting Yard on the Octagonal Lawn within the Longines Prize for Elegance Marquee with all Australian Turf Club.

All participants will be judged on the following criteria:

• Elegance – it’s an attitude
• A striking use of colour and material that demonstrates a strong understanding of design
• A keen eye for detail – accessories are essential, always
• Style to stand the test of time

The finalists vying for the Longines Prize for Elegance will be selected by Edwina McCann, Magazine Editor of Australian Vogue, from semi-finalists in the Myer Fashions on the Field for ‘Best Dressed Women’s Racewear’.

ATC Ambassador and  Model/Actress, Isabelle Cornish, and Taiwanese Actress, Grace Huang, will grace the occasion  for one of the most exciting days on the racing calendar.

Best Dressed Women’s Racewear:

• Hat or headpiece is compulsory, wool or felt for Autumn (no straw)
• Appropriateness of the outfit for Autumn Racing, The Championships, and the individual
• Attention to detail with all aspects of the outfit such as shoes, handbag and accessories
• Understanding and interpretation of racewear and current trends
• Style and originality
• Covered toe shoes
• Grooming and deportment
• Black & white (The Championships Day 1 only)
• Suitability of the outfit for the climate of the season and of the day

Best Dressed Men’s Racewear:

• Attention to detail with all aspects of accessories such as gentlemen’s hat and /or lapel flower
• Understanding and interpretation of racewear and current trends
• Suit, jacket and tie are essential
• Grooming and deportment
• Suitability of the outfit for the climate of the season and of the day
• Black & white (The Championships Day 1 only)
