PINCH POINT PROGRAM WORK FOR PENNANT HILLS ROAD GAINS MOMENTUM

Work on intersection improvements along Pennant Hills Road is gaining momentum with night work to start from Sunday 17 January.

Mr Lee said the NSW Government is funding the $4.4 million project to reduce congestion along the major arterial through Carlingford as part of the $246 million Pinch Point Program.

“Building work started on the upgrade in June last year, which includes extending the right turn lanes northbound on Pennant Hills Road into Marsden Road and two right turn lanes northbound from Pennant Hills Road into Carlingford Road,” Lee said.

“The project will also deliver a new dedicated left turn lane westbound from Marsden Road onto Pennant Hills Road and a new southbound bus lane on Pennant Hills Road south of Marsden Road.

“When complete the project is expected to improve traffic flow through Carlingford, particularly during weekday peak travel times.”

Mr Tudehope said following community consultation, night work will start from Sunday 17 January to ensure the project can be delivered efficiently and to minimise impacts on motorists.

“There will be 40 shifts of night work until the end of April and work will continue on weekdays from 7am to 6pm, weather permitting.

“Already a new retaining wall has been built and utility relocation work is under way. In the next few weeks motorists and residents can expect to see the existing concrete medians and kerb removed, drainage infrastructure work and installation of new power lines.

“It is expected in a few months work will have started on building new concrete medians, installing new traffic lights, building new footpaths and pram ramps and line marking.”

Motorists are reminded changed traffic conditions will be in place to ensure the safety of workers and motorists.

Lane closures may be in place and road users should allow extra travel time.
