HAVE YOUR SAY ON THE CONSUMER COMPLAINTS REGISTER

Commissioner for Fair Trading Rod Stowe is encouraging people to participate in a survey on the design of a Consumer Complaints Register, capturing data on complaints received by NSW Fair Trading.NSW Government

The release of the survey follows last week’s release of a Discussion Paper on the proposed register by the Minister with responsibility for Fair Trading Victor Dominello.

The survey reflects questions contained in the Discussion Paper and is provided to assist with providing comments on matters outlined in the paper.

Commissioner Stowe encouraged consumers and industry to contribute their views by responding to the survey.

“The survey asks for input on key issues such as how many traders the register should cover and how often should it be updated,” said Mr Stowe.

“This new survey complements a previous survey conducted by Fair Trading on buying behaviour and what information should be published in the register.

“The register will provide an incentive for businesses to deliver better customer service and also help consumers make more informed decisions about where to shop.”

Legislation to allow for the publication of this data is currently before the NSW Parliament.

The survey closes at 5pm on Friday 30 October 2015.
