HELPING MULTICULTURAL MEDIA REACH MORE VICTORIANS

The Andrews Labor Government is providing $450,000 for a new grants program, so multicultural media outlets across Victoria can upgrade equipment and technology.
The grants will enable media outlets to upgrade their equipment to meet modern technology standards, ensuring the delivery of high-quality news and information to more readers, listeners and viewers.
The Andrews Labor Government is supporting Victoria’s multicultural media sector to maintain and enhance existing services, to help meet the growing needs of culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
At the 2011 Census, 1.2 million Victorians spoke a language other than English, with approximately 210,000 Victorians with low English proficiency relying on ethnic media as their primary source of news and information.
