A new strategic partnership between Destination NSW and NSW TrainLink will see
trains across the State promote NSW tourism destinations and major events.
Minister for Trade, Tourism and Major Events Stuart Ayres today announced the
Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is worth $400,000 and will see NSW TrainLink
and the State’s tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW, partner in three
marketing campaigns.
“This innovative partnership will see some of the State’s finest regions and events
promoted and potential visitors encouraged to use the NSW TrainLink network to
reach their destination,” Mr Ayres said.
“The first campaign aims to entice visitors to come to NSW for a ‘Food and Wine
Escape’, centring on four of the State’s most popular areas for culinary travel –
Orange, Tamworth, the Hunter Valley and Griffith.
“Another campaign will promote the Vivid Sydney Festival, while the third campaign
will showcase the best of Regional NSW in winter, especially the North Coast,
Southern Highlands, South Coast and Mudgee.
“Each of these campaigns will use print, radio and online advertisements to help raise
awareness of the world class events and experiences on offer in our State, and
encourage people to book a trip, ditch the car and take advantage of our fantastic
regional rail network to get to their destination,” Mr Ayres added.
NSW TrainLink and Destination NSW will work together to create packages for tourists
to purchase, which will involve accommodation, transfers (if applicable) and train
travel to their chosen destination.
NSW TrainLink Chief Executive Rob Mason said the new campaigns would encourage
visitors to travel by rail and coach, raising awareness of the many scenic rail journeys
on offer in NSW.
“Our trains will carry you in air-conditioned comfort without the stress of driving and
the cost of parking. You’ll cruise through the countryside, enjoying the magnificent
views through panoramic windows,” Mr Mason said.
