Expressions of interest for VMC Commissioner positions

THE Victorian Multicultural Commission (VMC) acts as a conduit for communication between the community and the Government, and provides advice to the Government on multicultural affairs in Victoria. The VMC’s objectives and functions are set out in the Multicultural Victoria Act 2011.

Objectives of the VMC include: promoting full participation by Victoria’s diverse communities in the social, cultural, economic and political life of Victoria; promoting access by Victoria’s diverse communities to services made available by governments and other bodies; and encouraging all of Victoria’s diverse communities to retain and express their social identity and cultural inheritance and to promote mutual respect within the framework of shared laws, aspirations and responsibilities.

The VMC is currently seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified people for the following positions:
·        Chairperson
·        Commissioner (multiple)
·        Youth Commissioner
*Note: Applicants for the Youth Commissioner role must be at least 18 years of age but no more than 24 years at the time of his or her potential appointment.
