Premier Daniel Andrews today announced $40,000 in social cohesion initiatives to bring families and communities
together in the City of Greater Bendigo.
The initiatives will be delivered by the council, working alongside local organisations. The funding will support:
Multicultural education and outreach programs in local primary and secondary schools, culminating in an
event at the Bendigo Town Hall displaying culturally significant images created by students
A campaign to counter negative stereotypes about cultural and religious diversity
Forums to encourage more inclusive workplaces
A council of local faith leaders to promote interfaith dialogue
This funding is part of a $500,000 package of social cohesion initiatives to bring communities together across
Victoria.
It’s about building new connections between Victorians of different backgrounds, increasing respect and
resilience.
