Waqas quizzing will help in 2010 Jama Masjid case: Police

45New Delhi, March 26 (IANS) Delhi Police Wednesday informed a court here that they will quiz Indian Mujahideen operative Waqas to establish the missing links in the 2010 Jama Masjid attack case.

Police told the court that they will later seek custody of Waqas, a Pakistani national who is currently being questioned in the 2011 illegal arms factory case.

The court granted Delhi Police 15 more days to complete the probe against Indian Mujahideen co-founder Yasin Bhatkal and his aide Asadullah Akhtar in the Jama Masjid case.

The court also granted more time to police after it was told that Waqas has been arrested in a separate case and his questioning in the Jama Masjid case will help in establishing missing links.

However, Bhatkal’s counsel M.S. Khan opposed the plea and requested the court to release the accused on bail.

The court, however, refused to grant bail to Waqas.

Bhatkal, arrested in August last year near the Nepal border, is accused of being involved in various terror strikes in the country.
