Sikh Games

A Liberal Nationals are committed to supporting our multicultural communities and events.

That’s why a Liberal Government led by Matthew Guy will contribute $155,000 to 32nd Annual Australian Sikh Games.

The funding package will enable the Sikh community in Victoria to hold the Games primarily at the multi-sport complex at Casey Fields in Cranbourne, close to where so many of our Indian community call home.

It is expected that over 3,000 athletes will participate in the games, in 14 different sports with 90,000 spectators cheering them on.

In 2019, the Games will fall at the same time as Sikh New Year celebrations, Vaisakhi and the funding will allow for New Year celebrations to be incorporated into the Games.

This announcement follows the Liberals’ announcement to deepen ties between Victoria and India by establishing a sister-state relationship, which will be selected following consultation with the Victorian Indian community.

The Games are a great way for the Indian community from all over Australia to celebrate their culture while showcasing their skills on the sporting field.

Liberal Upper House Candidate Kuldeep Kaur will be an additional  point of contact with the Sikh community as we prepare for the 2019 Sikh Games and beyond given the growing number of Punjabi and Indian families moving into the South East Metro region and the increased number of community activities.
