Leader of The Opposition Strengthens Australia-India ties during productive visit to New Delhi

In a significant diplomatic endeavor, Peter Dutton MP, Leader of the Opposition, wrapped up a highly successful visit to New Delhi, India, reaffirming the Coalition’s commitment to bolstering bilateral relations between Australia and India.

During his stay, Mr Dutton engaged in a series of high-profile meetings and discussions with Indian Government Ministers, business leaders, and key stakeholders. The primary focus was on exploring avenues for stronger partnerships, particularly in the realms of trade, investment, and collaborative initiatives across various sectors.

Mr Dutton took the opportunity to visit the Swaminarayan Akshardham in New Delhi, a renowned spiritual and cultural complex. This visit emphasized the importance of fostering cultural exchange and a deep appreciation for India’s rich heritage.

Adding a touch of inclusivity and respect for religious diversity, Mr Dutton paid his respects at Gurdwara Sri Bangla Sahib, one of Delhi’s most prominent Sikh gurdwaras. This gesture underscored the Coalition’s unwavering commitment to upholding religious diversity and promoting unity.

A pivotal moment of Mr Dutton’s visit included addressing faculty and students at The Centre for India-Australia Studies of O.P. Jindal Global University. In a public lecture titled ‘India-Australia Relations,’ he shared insights and perspectives, contributing to a deeper understanding of the ties between the two nations.

Furthering the commitment to social welfare, Mr Dutton launched the ‘Eye See & I Learn’ campaign of the India Vision Institute (IVI). This initiative took him to the Nava Hind Government Girls Senior Secondary School at Karol Bagh, where he distributed free spectacles to children. The move reflects the Coalition’s dedication to making a positive impact on communities and fostering mutual well-being.
