India Dispatches Initial Group of Construction Workers to Israel

In a significant development amidst the ongoing tensions in Israel, a convoy of Indian construction workers was dispatched to the nation on 2 April, an event marked by the presence of Israeli ambassador Naor Gilon alongside Indian officials. This deployment is a direct response to an immediate appeal from the Israeli government, seeking to mitigate a severe labor crunch that emerged after a significant number of Palestinian workers were barred following attacks by Hamas.

The selection process for the initial group of 64 workers spanned several months, involving extensive recruitment drives across Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. These individuals represent the vanguard of a larger contingent, totaling 10,000 workers, slated for transportation to Israel in the near future. Plans are in place for their departure in successive groups, traveling via Air India and specially chartered flights, a detail highlighted during a send-off ceremony organized by the Israeli Embassy.
