Fully Vaccinated Australian citizens, Residents, will be able to travel to India and return : Scott Morrison

Australian citizens, residents who are vaccinated in a state that has gone into Phase C, ie. 80 per cent vaccination, will be able to travel to India and return to happen this year.

He is working for that to happen this year in states where, who achieve those vaccination rates. He is confident it will certainly happen in New South Wales. He further stated whether it will happen in Victoria or not, that will then depend on whether those states are going to impose, what restrictions they’re going to impose on people. If they’re going to insist on hotel quarantine well, that is not a scalable option. And those states will then be preventing Australians who are vaccinated actually going and seeing their family overseas and returning.

The National Plan provides for fully vaccinated go and come back and have a modified form of quarantine. The home quarantine trials that are underway now is the scalable, safe way of achieving that.  Those who are not Australian residents and citizens, travelling to Australia is not happening this year. The priorities are of Australian residents and citizens, skilled migration and students.

Mr. Morrison said the vaccination rates in India are very encouraging and they’ve got a very, very good vaccine.
