34th Annual EBA Gala Presentation Dinner: A Celebration of Diversity; PM Anthony Albanese, former PMs, and many dignitaries grace the occasion

The 34th EBA Gala Presentation Dinner was held on November 20th at the Four Seasons

Hotel in Sydney. In attendance was the Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese, and an

impressive list of dignitaries, diplomats, leaders and media luminaries representing many different

communities as well as former Prime Ministers, Scot Morrison and Tony Abbot.

“This gathering brings together our nation’s greatest resource–our people. And acclaims our greatest national asset—our multiculturalism,” The Guest of Honour and Prime Minister Anthony Albanese stated while addressing the audience.

The Prime Minister also announced he signed a brief to give a Deductible Gift Recipient status to The

EBA Foundation, which will help to ensure its work continues for many years and generations to

come.

The night was a celebration of Success Against the Odds and featured stories from twelve finalists

across three categories. Namely the Indigenous In Business Category, Small Business Category and

the Henry Ngai Medium to Large Business Category.

Teymour Salaam from Dar Group presented the Indigenous in Business Category and expressed his

gratitude towards Joseph and Angela Assaf for their “contributions which have paved the way for

success and excellence in business.”

The winner of the Indigenous in Business Category was Peter Hicks of Hicks Civil and Mining.

The Small Business Category was presented by The Honourable Andrew Giles MP, Minister for

Immigration, Citizenship and Multicultural Affairs. He said, “For multicultural Australians who bring

together such a rich tapestry of cultures also critically contribute to the country’s business

landscape”.

Oren and Adi Barak from Roogenic were the winners of this category.

The Honourable Michael Sukkar MP, Shadow Minister for Social Services, for NDIS, for Housing and

for Homelessness represented The Honourable Peter Duton, Leader of the Opposition in presenting

the Henry Ngai Medium to Large Business Category. He described the finalists saying they represent

the best of what it means to be a multicultural society and the resilience shown by all the nominees

and the winners is quite remarkable.

The winner of the Henry Ngai Medium to Large Business category was Fung Lam of New Aim.
