2023 NSW Volunteer of the Year Award: Sanjay Deshwal receives Central Sydney Adult and Region Volunteer of the Year Award

Sanjay Deshwal, President of Little India Harris Park Business Association (LIHPBA), has been honoured with Central Sydney Adult and Region Volunteer of the Year Award at the 2023 Central Sydney Volunteer of the Year Ceremony.

From mechanical engineering to starting his own business and founding LIHPBA, Sanjay Deshwal is known to assist the community at the grassroots level.

Deshwal has assisted victims of DV, CALD communities and women and men of various backgrounds by providing food and shelter.

He has also acted as and volunteered his time for various artistic and cultural events for the community including the annual Diwali event and other various multicultural social events.

A well-known name for his active community participation and dedication, Deshwal has been working tirelessly to build Little India as a recognised Arts and Culture precinct in Sydney.

Expressing gratitude for the 2023 Central Sydney Volunteer of the Year Award winners, Jodie Harrison, NSW Minister with responsibility for Volunteering, said, “I am immensely proud of the dedication and commitment to community that we see each year from volunteers across the state. The NSW Volunteer of the Year Awards shine a light on these selfless efforts. Congratulations to today’s award recipients.”
