WORLD CLASS PARRAMATTA CBD ONE STEP CLOSER

IMG_29281-400x240Planning Minister Rob Stokes today announced a new partnership between the NSW Government and Parramatta City Council to plan the future of Parramatta’s Central Business District.

Mr Stokes said the new partnership will help create a new vision for the CBD.

“This project will support Parramatta to take its place as our second CBD,” Mr Stokes said.

“Parramatta is in the midst of a construction boom the likes of which are rarely seen, and we must act now to plan for the city’s future.”

The partnership will involve the establishment of a working group comprising representatives from the Department of Planning and Environment and Parramatta City Council, which will develop a blueprint for Parramatta.

Member for Parramatta Geoff Lee welcomed the new partnership.

“This will bring on the renaissance of Parramatta,” Dr Lee said.
“This partnership will help us plan a great city and get the infrastructure, housing and lifestyle right.”

Parramatta City Council confirmed it had accepted the NSW Government’s offer to work on the joint project.

Parramatta Lord Mayor Scott Lloyd said a coordinated approach to planning is crucial to ensure the success of Parramatta as Sydney’s second CBD.

“Parramatta’s expansion needs to be accompanied by visionary planning, to capitalise on the opportunities to make it a world-class CBD,” Cr Lloyd said.
