SHAHID TALKS ABOUT HIS HAIRDO

Shahid has no qualms in going baldShahid Kapoor and Vishal Bhardwaj are teaming up once again for ‘Haider’ after their successful flick ‘Kaminey’. ‘Haider’ is an adaptation of Shakespeare’s toughest play ‘Hamlet’.

The film will see Shahid in different kinds of hairdo. It was learnt that the actor will go bald for this film, however currently he has not completely chopped off his hair, but has very short hair.

Aalim Hakim, the actor’s favourite hairdresser flew down from Mumbai to give him the new cut. It is said that when Shahid heard the script, he understood that he needs to go bald for a single scene, but he didn’t hesitate and signed the film.

Talking about his hairdo, Shahid said, “This is by far the most challenging role I have played. Aalim took two hours to cut my hair. For 45 minutes, he tried different looks for me. I told him, ‘Just hurry up and take it off. Don’t make it long and painful for me.’ I have had the longest and the shortest hair in this film. But after he was done, I was surprised, but very happy as an actor due to my new look. I secretly emailed the pictures to my dad to get his feedback and he said, ‘I feel very proud that you are doing this as an actor.’ The best was when he said, ‘Tu toh achcha lag raha hai.’

Creative Director of Disney UTV, Amar Butala, said, “Our previous association with Vishal Bhardwaj and Shahid Kapoor delivered the acclaimed Kaminey. With an incredible ensemble of actors including Tabu, Shraddha Kapur and Kay Kay Menon, this Shakespearean interpretation set against the backdrop of militancy in Kashmir, has some remarkable performances and great music. We believe Haider will be a worthy successor to Maqbool and Omkara. ”

‘Haider’ is slated to release on 12th Sept 2014.
