Ragaamrutha Music School: Preserving and promoting the traditional music of India

Ragaamrutha’s mission is to preserve and promote traditional music art forms from India. It caters to the needs of the community at large specifically Indian Australian community for carnatic music learning.

Ragaamrutha has been a result of relentless efforts that have been invested towards the Carnatic art form to the community in Hoppers Crossing, Tarneit, Truganina, Point Cook and Melbourne area by Madhuri Vasa. With Madhuri’s vast experience in having interacted with her gurus in the traditional Guru Sishya Parampara for many years, Ragaamrutha provides a forum for a systematic and authentic way to learn Carnatic Music in a very traditional setting. To keep the rich cultural tradition of music alive, the music school celebrated its annual function once again with vibrant music and compositions.

Ragaamrutha Music School successfully held their 4th Annual Concert on 13th September, 2015 at Suzanne Cory High School, Hoppers Crossing. The Musical event was attended by 300 elite audience who enjoyed some melodious and popular ragas like Mohana, Bilahari, Ragaamalika, Anandamruthavarshini, Shankarabaranam and Anada Bhairavi performed by a group of young and ambitious students whose energetic approach was perceived by an atmosphere of musical festival and felicitation.

Ragaamrutha annual concert series has been the constant endeavor of Smt. Madhuri Vasa, Artistic Director of Ragaamrutha Music School situated at Hoppers Crossing. The musical concert was meticulously planned, organised and well received by the audience among cheers and choirs of young musical buds.

According to Smt. Madhuri Vasa, the Ragaamrutha annual concert – 2015 has provided a platform for a musical and artistic interchange between students and audience with a vision to expose the hidden talents and interests. Also, it is felt that through continuous practice of Music, it is not only an ideal method for the exchange of musical talents but also giving an opportunity for all the Ragaamrutha students to retain the Carnatic culture and musical heritage in Wyndham region. Ragaamrutha annual concert was made possible due to the dedicated support provided by all the Parents and well wishers, who have come together to make this concert highly successful.

The musical efforts made by the teacher Smt. Madhuri Vasa was wholeheartedly lauded by the Chief Guest, internationally renowned Carnatic Musician Shri. Sridhar Chari. This event was proudly supported and attended by the Wyndham city Mayor Cr. Peter Maynard, Cr. Heather Marcus and Cr. Gautam Gupta. The Councillors welcomed Ragaamrutha’s initiative and congratulated the Guru and the students for their dedication and devotion and wished them best in their future endeavors.

Finally, Ragaamrutha annual concert – 2015 ended with the distribution of Mementos for the participants, guests and sponsors. The program was supported by many Coordinators. Finally the program concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Mr. Deepak Vasa , Mangalam and by senior students of Ragaamrutha.
