The NSW Government has today congratulated the latest 131 graduates from the NSW Police Academy and thanked officers leaving the force for their commitment to the State at today’s attestation.

Parliamentary Secretary for the Deputy Premier and Minister Justice and Police Andrew Gee joined NSW Police Commissioner Andrew Scipione and Governor of NSW, His Excellency General The Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Ret’d) to celebrate the achievements of the State’s newest recruits and some of the organisation’s most experienced personnel at this morning’s parade.  

The probationary constables will join commands across the State and bring the NSW Police Force authorised strength to 16,695, including 859 since 2011.

“The NSW Government is proud of the men and women who are joining the country’s oldest and largest police organisation.

“On behalf of the community I commend the four decades of service from Sergeant Daniel Webster and Sergeant Maxwell Madgwick, who are hanging up their hats at today’s ceremony,” Mr Gee said.

“I wish our new recruits the very best for their selfless service to protect the community as they start their new positions on Monday following months of study.

“Regions across NSW will welcome today’s graduates, not only for their duty to their allocated local command but also as valued members of the community.

“I hope Class 325 is inspired by the distinguished service of today’s retiring officers and Valour Award recipient and they too find policing a rewarding and interesting career.”

Senior Constable Michael Bobako has today been recognised for his bravery in the line of duty, receiving the Valour Award.

Senior Constable Bobako was forced to shoot an offender to protect himself, his fellow officers and the community after sustaining serious injuries when the offender struck him with a tyre iron.

“On behalf of the NSW Government I commend and thank Senior Constable Bobako for his brave actions to ensure the safety of the community,” Mr Gee said.
