NSW ECONOMY ONCE AGAIN NATION’S BEST

NSW remains well ahead of the other states when it comes to economic performance, according to today’s ANZ Stateometer.

NSW Treasurer Gladys Berejiklian has welcomed the positive report, which uses key monthly data to assess and compare state and territory economic progress.

“Throughout 2015, the NSW economy surpassed the rest of the nation on a consistent basis,” Ms Berejiklian said.

“This is the sixth Stateometer released by ANZ and every single time NSW has outperformed the other states.”

ANZ has declared that NSW continues to “lead the pack with annual growth well above its long-run average”.

The report also noted that the strength of the NSW economic performance has been boosted by a strong labour market.

“NSW has an economy of which it can be proud, and the Liberals & Nationals Government will be working hard this year to ensure that continues,” Ms Berejiklian said.

The ANZ Stateometer results come after ABS labour force data showed NSW employment rose 168,800 in the year to December, accounting for over 55 per cent of the national growth.
