BRISBANE’S FIRST AFRICAN AUSTRALIAN FASHION SHOW

In celebration of Mother’s Day 2017, Red Carpet Functions and Tuntifady Designs presented the first ever African Australian fashion show at Rocklea Showgrounds on 13 May. The show was aimed to bring more exposure to a number of beautiful African inspired collections, showcasing the talents of young African Australian designers. Models of all ethnicities, gender and age walked the catwalk dressed from head to toe in a myriad of colorful creations, stunning the audience with this amazing exhibition of African-Australian influenced clothing.

The Red Carpet Functions was created for the purpose of bringing Brisbane’s many cultures together through their common love of fashion, giving people of all backgrounds a chance and platform to proudly display their unique heritages. This is one of the many fashion shows the Red Carpet Functions has arranged since its conception in 2015, and the organization has successfully created events to unite many different cultural circles in appreciation of their diverse customs and beliefs.

For this African Fashion Show, Red Carpet Functions worked closely with designer Amina Bilal Pira, and with her creation,Tuntifady Designs, she presented one of a kind outfits that exuded culture, style and elegance:

The fashion show was accompanied by the musical talents of DJ Joe Tee, Tichawona Noble Mashawa, Paula Schiavi, Prakruthi Mysore Gururaj and Adeline Hunt, making the night even more spectacular and festive.
This was an amazing opportunity to showcase traditional African designs with a modern twist, and give people the confidence to walk proudly on stage as models. The Red Carpet Functions stages a large fashion show each year- the Multicultural Fashion Show, which features traditional and modern designs from all countries on a larger scale. The past two years’ shows were fully sold out, and in 2016, it was given the title of Award Winning Fashion Show by the Courier Mail. This year the Red Carpet Functions is planning its third Multicultural Fashion Show, and its promised to be bigger and better than ever, and will feature more of Tuntifady Designs works.
