Australian Bureau of Statistics – Hindi data for Diwali

Happy Diwali!

Thursday, 19 October marks Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights, and there will likely be a greater number of Hindus celebrating Diwali in Australia this year, with the 2016 Census revealing Hinduism as the country’s fastest growing religious group between 2011 and 2016.

Last year, the Census counted 440,300 people reporting Hinduism as their religion. This was 1.9 per cent of the population and  represented a 60 per cent increase since the 2011 Census, when the Hindu population was 275,535.

A plethora of other Census data relating to religion can be found on the ABS website.
