Arms, explosives recovered near Pakistan-Afghanistan border

40Islamabad, May 19 (IANS) Pakistani security forces seized a truck near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in Balochistan Monday and recovered numerous weapons, ammunition and explosives, media reported.

Balochistan Home Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti alleged that neighbouring countries were trying to carry out terror activities to weaken Pakistan, Dawn online reported.

Security forces claimed to have recovered 70 sacks of explosive material, 45 prepared bombs, 200 detonators, 100 AK-47 rifles, three G-3 rifles and 135 handguns.

Bomb making equipment including one hundred bundles of prima cord, 50 remote control detonators, sophisticated binoculars, sniper scopes and at least 2,000 rounds of ammunition were also found.

The weapons were being smuggled into Balochistan from Afghanistan to be used in terror activities across Pakistan, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, security officials said.
