AN EXTRA 580 BUS SERVICES ROLL INTO WESTERN SYDNEY AND NEWCASTLE

cCustomers in Western Sydney and Newcastle will now benefit from more than 580 additional weekly bus services, taking the number of extra services introduced by the NSW Government to more than 12,800.

NSW Minister for Transport and Infrastructure Andrew Constance said the boost to bus services is due to a multi-million dollar investment enabling the roll out of new accessible buses that will improve customer experience.

Included is a new Route 729 now in operation between Mt Druitt and Blacktown via Minchinbury and Doonside, offering direct services to Blacktown and Mt Druitt train stations and jobs at Eastern Creek and Arndell Park.

“This new service is the first step in updating all bus services to the south of the railway line between Mount Druitt and Blacktown,” Mr Constance said.

“This is in addition to improvements being delivered in Newcastle, including 69 extra weekly bus services for customers in Charlestown, Glendale and Cameron Park from today.”

Of the 584 additional weekly trips, there are:

  • 352 extra services on the 729 from Mount Druitt to Blacktown
  • 133 extra services on the T80 from Parramatta to Liverpool
  • 30 extra services on the M91 from Blaxcell Street to Parramatta
  • 30 extra services on the 263 from Cameron Park to Charlestown
  • 34 extra services on the 267 from West Wallsend to Newcastle University
  • 5 extra services on the 268 from Killingworth to Glendale via Edgeworth

Two new air-conditioned buses which are accessible for wheelchair customers will be delivered to the Hunter by June 30 to service routes around Cameron Park, Green Hills and Glendale.

A further 23 buses will be delivered after July and used to replace ageing buses in the Newcastle fleet for use on routes around Belmont, Wallsend, Sandgate and Newcastle.

“Since first coming to office in March 2011, the NSW Liberals & Nationals Government has delivered more than 10,920 extra bus services, 1,730 extra train services and 220 extra ferry services each week,” Mr Constance said.

“This is great news for customers who want more travel options.”
