Minister for Industry, Resources and Energy, Anthony Roberts, today officially opened Unilever Australia’s expanded Sydney headquarters at North Rocks.

Unilever manufactures a range of well-known household and personal care products at the site, along with running a state-of-the-art customer collaboration centre, research and development facilities and a learning and development centre.

Mr Roberts said around 270 new jobs will be moved to the area.

“Unilever’s investment in its North Rocks headquarters is a tremendous vote of confidence in the business environment of NSW,” Mr Roberts said.

“The NSW Government is ensuring our state is the number one place for companies such as Unilever to establish national or Asia Pacific headquarters.

“In the past five years the company has invested more than $50 million to increase manufacturing output and refurbish its offices at North Rocks and in doing so, has increased the number of staff at the site from 110 to 380.”

The upgrade has allowed the company to bring production of its laundry powders to NSW and increase the competitiveness of its North Rocks site.

Unilever is one of NSW’s longest standing corporate citizens, having opened the first ever soap production factory in Balmain in 1899. It currently employs around 1,000 people in NSW.

NSW has the largest and strongest economy in Australia, has an infrastructure and investment plan that is driving businesses confidence and is home to the Australian headquarters of more multi-national companies than any other state.
