Megastar Amitabh Bachchan is very happy as India is declared as polio free. On 13th Jan (yesterday), India completed three years without any report of a new polio case.

World Health Organisation (WHO) declares a country polio free in the period of three years and as the three year period is over, the authorities and those who worked hard for the cause, even Sr. Bachchan, are very happy that now India has no more people suffering from polio. But, the official certification may take a month to come.

Talking about it Big B said, “As the brand ambassador for the United Nations in the fight for polio eradication, I’m very happy and proud that India has been declared a polio-free country. I wish to applaud the efforts of the various volunteers and medical workers who have persevered tirelessly and charitably to enable India to be eradicated of the disease.”
