Geoff Lee MP, Member for Parramatta welcomed 94 medical graduates who are starting their internship at Westmead Hospital this year.

“Westmead Hospital is renowned for its commitment to care and provides a great training ground for our up and coming doctors, ensuring patients get high quality care well into the future”.

Geoff said “NSW employs more interns than any other state or territory in Australia with 959 intern training places available this year. This is an increase of 32 positions on last year. The NSW Government has committed more than $105 million this year to support intern training”.

NSW guarantees intern positions to all domestic medical graduates of NSW universities and is the only state to offer two-year employment contracts to medical graduates.

“I congratulate these interns and join the community in welcoming them to Westmead and wish them all the best in their training,” said Geoff.
