1. The ideal place for the location of kitchen is the southeast corner. An alternative choice

can be the northwest corner of the house. The South-East direction is opted as the best

position for kitchen because the Element Fire governs in the direction South-east.

2. The cooking gas or stove should be placed at the South-East direction so that the person

who is cooking should face towards the east only.

3. Taps and sinks should be kept in the North-East direction away from the cooking range

as fire and water repel each other.

4. Refrigerator if placed in the kitchen must be placed in the South-Western direction There

should be one or two windows or air holes in the east direction of the kitchen. Larger

windows in the kitchen should be in Eastern side while small ventilators should be placed

in South. An exhaust fan in the East is good.

5. Heaters, conventional ovens, micro-waves ovens should be placed in south-east or south

side of the kitchen.

6. The storage for all the food grains, utensils, the over head “almirah” should always be on

the Southern and the western walls.

7. The water source including pitcher, water filter, etc. may be kept in north-east.

8. The colour of floor and walls should be green, yellow, orange, rose, chocolate or red. It

should not be black as far as possible.

9. The kitchen must never be placed below the bathroom or toilet. Even the kitchen should

never share a common wall with the bathroom or toilet.

10. The bigger windows should always be constructed in the eastern direction, while smaller

ones must be towards south.

11. There should be abundant use of green in the kitchen. For example green granite

for flooring or green pictures. This helps improve the appetite of the family

members and also promotes peace and harmony in the house.

12. If the kitchen is adjoining a bedroom, the wall between them should be thicker

than other walls.

13. The kitchen should always receive natural air and sunlight.

14. Use North-East to set up wash-basin or sink in the kitchen.

15. Use North-East or North side to keep drinking water and utensils for drinking water.

16. You can optionally place a dining table in North-West or West side of kitchen.

17. Keep light weight things in East or North in kitchen.

18. Give sacred offering to fire of the first thing you prepare in kitchen to make sure peace

and prosperity.
