Pakistan wants complete halt to US drone attacks

planePakistan wants a complete halt to US drone attacks instead of a decrease in the frequency of attacks, the foreign office said Thursday.

Foreign office spokesperson Tasnim Aslam said at a press briefing here that Pakistan’s stance on drone strikes was lucid, adding the strikes were unacceptable as these killed innocent people in violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty, reported the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP).

She said Pakistan has consistently discussed this issue with the US and sought that these violations of its territory should stop.

“Our voice on drones has also been endorsed by the international community,” the spokesperson said.

About the UN Security Council’s resolutions on Kashmir, Tasnim Aslam said, “How can one country decide that these resolutions are not valid?”

She said if at some point Pakistan, India and the Kashmiri people reach an agreement on the settlement of the Kashmir issue, then they would have to go to the UN Security Council to endorse that decision and bring another resolution to endorse the new procedure.

About the bus service between India and Pakistan, the spokesperson said the service on the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir has been restored while it is expected that the truck service would be restored soon.

She said Pakistan has accepted India’s proposal for the early convening of a working group to discuss LoC trade in order to revisit the modalities in this regard.
