One killed in France shooting

One person was killed and six others were injured after two armed men opened fire on a group of people in the French city of Toulouse, police said.

The shooting took place on Monday night at around 9.00 p.m. (local time) in the city’s La Reynerie district. The attackers managed to flee on a motorcycle, reports Xinhua news agency.

Two of the injured were reported to be in serious condition, according to local media reports.

“No possibilities are ruled out, but there is no terrorist element at this stage,” regional authorities said.

Citing a source close to the investigation, the Europe1 broadcaster said the shooting is likely linked with settlement of old scores between gangs.

Last July, a Russian man of Chechen origin was shot dead by an unknown gunman on a scooter in La Reynerie.
