Nominations open for WA enterprising businesses

2Nominations are open for contenders in the prestigious WA Industry and Export Awards.

Commerce Minister Michael Mischin said Western Australian winners of export categories would automatically become finalists in the national Australia Export Awards, giving them an opportunity for recognition at a national and international level.

“There are many businesses which make a valuable contribution to the State’s economic development by creating industries, pioneering technology and opening up new markets with their foresight and vision,” Mr Mischin said.

“These accolades not only highlight the excellent work being undertaken by the business community, but will provide some well-deserved exposure for finalists and winners with added impetus for success in the future.

“Last year’s winners came from a diverse range of industries and included the Truffle and Wine Company, Atlas Pearls and Perfumes, The Perth Mint and traffic surveyors MetroCount.

“In 2013, Otraco International also took out the national Minerals and Energy category, bringing the number of Western Australian winners at the national awards to 39 over the past 26 years.

“I hope this year’s nominees will potentially add to the impressive tally, which reinforces WA’s reputation of achieving excellence in its business endeavours.”

There are 15 categories covering a variety of industries, including agribusiness, marketing and design, minerals and energy, construction, biotechnology and small business.

The awards will be presented at the Hyatt Regency Perth on Friday, October 16, 2015.
