Mindfields & the Mind behind it

By Ashutosh Raina

ashutoshFounded in 2006, Mindfields is a vendor-agnostic management advisory firm and is a typical fusion of research and consulting firm. They provide advisory services to leading global financial and non-financial services organization on Automation and Artificial Intelligence. Mindfields has its offices in Australia, U.S.A, and India. With no hidden agenda to cross-sell other services, they like to stay ahead of the curve and are one of the first firms to release a comprehensive research report on Robotic Process Automation when the market was still trying to understand the concept. Their research team is working on a comprehensive Artificial Intelligence Report to educate the market of what is out there. Mindfields aims to be a differentiator and disruptor in its field and every day they strive to achieve it.  And that is where their launch the digital and interactive version of reports is going to hit the market, which again will be the first of its kind.

Mindfields has been the only Australian firm recognized by two of the leading research organizations – HfS Reseach and Gartner, as a leading specialist and independent automation advisory and deployment firm globally.

And there is a mind behind Mindfields – the name is Mohit Sharma.

1Mohit is born and brought up in New Delhi, India. Coming from a family of lawyers, he has done his CA in India and was the first from his family, to join employment in last 7 generations.

Deloitte Consulting offered him a job in Sydney and he shifted in 2001. After working for Deloitte Consulting, he joined IBM Consulting and EY. He saw a huge opportunity in advisory particularly in Outsourcing and Inbound/outbound business with India. That led Mohit to start his own consulting firm-Mindfields in 2006. They have now grown to 20 plus staff spread across Sydney, Melbourne, Delhi and Mumbai, with clientele like AMP, Macquarie, Wesfarmers, Bauer Media, to name a few.

Mohit is currently working on advising his clients on non-conventional and innovative strategies to optimise Revenues and reduce costs. His thought is that automation might make geographical selection for outsourcing obsolete to some extent and countries like Peru, Sri Lanka& Poland might be new destination for outsourcing for Australian companies. He is also raising funds to be invested in new generation economy in India. Mohit is currently assisting “Women only” cab services in Bangalore and Chennai to raise funds as well as assisting a start-up analytics company in India to get funding from his Australian clients. He is also marketing and leveraging Australian IP into mass markets. Mohit is also often covered by the Australian Financial Review and other leading publications as an expert in the field of RPA.

Mohit takes some time out for his hobbies too – play cricket and riding motorcycle, apart from cooking fusion food. He treats them as his stress busters. Family and community are Mohit’s priorities.

For him – Saturday is family time and Sunday is “me” time.

Mohit particularly remembers one incident – the first one he landed in Sydney. Late arrival and being a vegetarian, he didn’t have much option on the plane. As soon as he checked-in, he caught a cab to find something to eat but everything was closed by 10 pm. Mohit still remembers how that cab driver (originally from Pakistan) took him to his home and organised home-made vegetarian food for him. It has been 16 years and Mohit still remember the love with which the food was served and packed for the next day. And that incident inspired Mohit and his family invite students to their home on the weekends, those who are majorly vegetarian and miss home food. Most of these students are not known to them, who he has met them in trains, shopping centres or restaurants struggling to find veg food.

Mohit is also involved with organ donation programs, both in Australia and India. His father had a kidney donated and he thinks that it is his duty to save more lives by spreading the knowledge and awareness for Organ donation.
