Major upgrade to Harris Park station

1 006 cMember for Parramatta Geoff Lee today welcomed news that Harris Park Station will
undergo a multi-million upgrade as part of a major boost to station access and parking
across Western Sydney.
Geoff Lee said , “if the Baird Government is re-elected, Harris Park will be completely
transformed with lift access for the first time – a big win for the elderly, customers with
a wheelchair and families with prams”.
Geoff said.,”The station upgrade will include lifts, family accessible toilets, improved customer
information, way-finding signs, lighting and new CCTV to boost access and security at
the busy station,”
Thousands of customers rely on train services from Harris Park every day to travel to
the CBD, west to Penrith or Blacktown, and to employment hubs in Sydney’s south
west. This upgrade is a huge win for Harris Park and if re-elected, work will start
straight away to deliver this as quickly as possible for the local community.
Geoff Lee said , “from day-one the government hit the ground running on public
transport improvements and customers are now seeing the results.
Labor’s record in Western Sydney was a disgrace – late-running trains were the
norm, customer information was abysmal, electronic ticketing was a pipe-dream and
customers were sweltering in non-air-conditioned trains,”
Thanks to the Baird Government public transport customers are now benefiting from
cheaper and convenient travel with the Opal card, more than 12,000 extra weekly
services, modern and air-conditioned trains and real-time apps.
“We’re also delivering major upgrades at nearby Wentworthville Station to make the
station accessible for the first time. Wentworthville Station will be upgraded with four
new lifts, a new concourse area with information displays, as well as safety upgrades
to stairs and repairs to the pedestrian footbridge,” added Geoff.
