Longines Set to Celebrate World and Commonwealth Games Record Breakers with Ceremonies at Longines Records Club

Gold Coast (Australia) / Saint-Imier (Switzerland) 4 to 15 April 2018. As a proud partner and
Official Timekeeper of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games (GC2018), Longines is
committed to celebrating every World Record and Commonwealth Games Record broken
during the Games. The world record holder will be presented with a certificate of achievement,
an official Conquest V.H.P. Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games watch and a donation in
the athlete’s name to UNICEF and the Commonwealth Games record holder will be presented
with a certificate of achievement and a donation in the athlete’s name to UNICEF as an
acknowledgement of this amazing achievement.

As the proud Official Timekeeper of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, Longines is looking
forward to seeing many record-breaking performances captured by its official time keeping equipment
across all 18 competition venues.
In fact, all the World Records and Commonwealth Games Records will be officially celebrated by
acknowledging the athlete or team after the record takes place, with the Longines Records Ceremony.
These special events will take place at the Longines Records Club, which is located in prime position
at Broadbeach on the Gold Coast.
To acknowledge their history making performance at GC2018, the world record holder will be
presented with a certificate of achievement, an official Conquest V.H.P. Gold Coast 2018
Commonwealth Games watch and a donation in the athlete’s name to UNICEF. Commonwealth
Games record holder will be presented with a certificate of achievement and a donation in the
athlete’s name to UNICEF. Moreover, if all the World Record and Commonwealth Games Record
holders attend the Longines Records Ceremonies, the total amount will be doubled.
Longines, with the support of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games Corporation (GOLDOC),
will invite the athlete or team who break a World Record and / or Commonwealth Games Record to
the Longines Records Club on April 7, 9, 11, 13 at 9am and April 15 at 12noon.
The Longines Records Ceremony is an integral part of Longines’ involvement in the Gold Coast
2018 Commonwealth Games, according to Vice President of Longines and Head of International
Marketing, Juan-Carlos Capelli. “At Longines, our currency is precision and we are delighted to
celebrate precision at the highest level during the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games through
World and Commonwealth Games Records achieved by the Commonwealth’s best athletes. We truly
hope to celebrate as many records at Longines Records Club with Commonwealth Games athletes as
possible,” said Mr Capelli.
The Australian and the Commonwealth media will be invited for a media opportunity at the Longines
Records Ceremony.
