‘Lakshaya…’ not made for entertainment: Niret Alva

“Lakshaya: EK Living Planet” is not meant to entertain, but to educate and to create awareness about environmental issues, says its host Niret Alva.

“Lakshaya: EK Living Planet” is a 26-episode environment series that went on air in January on Doordarshan.

“The show is logical…Through the show, we are trying to join the dots on issues related to environment. It is not meant for entertainment, but yes, we have tried to keep the viewing short and crisp,” Alva, a well-known television personality and chairman of Miditech Pvt Ltd, told IANS.

“It occupies a space as palatable as possible. It is a 28-minute episodic series and we have tried not to put too much information in one go,” he added.

The show covered five stories in the first episode, which included stories on hospital waste, fish population and mitticool (a fridge that doesn’t use electricity).

Alva says the show is based on research and also gives an opportunity to young filmmakers, who are into environment, to showcase their talent.

“The show is strongly based on research. We came up with the show in a very short time, but we tried to pick up issues that really held a lot of importance. It gives an opportunity to young filmmakers who are well-versed with the topic and are doing something to bring about a change,” he said.
