LABOR’S INFRASTRUCTURE PLAN: TAKING THE HILLS AND WESTERN SYDNEY FOR GRANTED…AGAIN

Baulkham Hills State Liberal MP David Elliott, Seven Hills Liberal candidate Mark Taylor and Blacktown Liberal candidate Raman Bhalla said Labor’s 10 year Infrastructure Plan once again demonstrates they’re taking the Hills and Western Sydney for granted.

“After 16 years in Government and four years in Opposition, Labor have clearly not learnt from their past – releasing a plan that cuts infrastructure projects and raises taxes across NSW,” Mr Elliott said.

“You would expect a 10 year infrastructure plan would actually announce new projects with additional funding – but Labor has not mentioned any new roads, hospitals, schools or employment projects.”

Mr Taylor said that with the population of New South Wales set to increase, it was vital to build infrastructure now to support the increase in population.

“The only new announcement in Labor’s plan is to raise taxes by slugging businesses an extra $400 million every year,” Mr Taylor said.

“Labor stands for more congestion, not less.

“Over 16 years Labor announced, and then axed projects time and time again, leaving NSW with a $30 billion infrastructure backlog.

“Labor is now even axing projects that they haven’t announced. This includes 180 infrastructure projects across NSW including $400 million for Parramatta Light Rail.

“The 180 infrastructure projects, including the Parramatta Light Rail, are fully funded by the Baird Government. They will transform NSW by reducing congestion so people spend more time with their family and friends, as well as supporting the creation of jobs.”

Mr Bhalla said that Labor simply shied away from key infrastructure when it was in Government, and has done so again.

“I am calling on the Labor candidates Baulkham Hills, Blacktown and Seven Hills to stand up for NSW and join us supporting the investment in infrastructure that NSW needs and deserves,” Mr Bhalla said.

“This election is about who is best placed to Rebuild NSW.

“Labor should be known as the Cancelled Party as it spent 16 years cancelling its own infrastructure projects, and now it wants to cancel our projects too.

“I am proud to be supporting Premier Mike Baird who has a fully funded infrastructure plan through the 49 per cent lease of the electricity networks, compared to Labor, which has only cut projects and raised taxes.”
