Jammu records season’s coldest night

Jammu city on Tuesday recorded the coldest night of the season so far as the minimum temperature was 7.4 degrees Celsius.

Leh town in Ladakh region, which recorded minus 10.6 degrees Celsius as the minimum temperature, was the coldest town in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday.

“The temperature dropped to 7.4 degrees Celsius during the night in Jammu city, which is 1.6 degrees Celsius below the season’s average. This is the lowest minimum temperature recorded in the city so far this season,” a Met official told IANS.

The official said dry weather was likely to continue in the state during the next 48 hours and because of the accompanying clear night sky the minimum temperatures would fall further during this period.

“The minimum temperature was minus 0.5 degrees Celsius in Srinagar city of Kashmir Valley while in Pahalgam it was minus 4.9 degrees Celsius on Tuesday. Gulmarg recorded minus 5.2 degrees Celsius as the minimum temperature.

“Katra town in Jammu region recorded the minimum temperature of 9.5 degrees Celsius. It was 4.2 degrees Celsius in Batote, 2.5 degrees Celsius in Bannihal and 1.1 degrees Celsius in Bhaderwah,” the official said.
