The shooting occurred in a busy part of Harris Park, also known as Little India, because it’s home to some of Sydney’s finest Indian restaurants.

Police Commander, Wayne Cox and Local Member Parramatta MP Geoff Lee were quick to meet with members of the local community to discuss safety concerns and have agreed to work together to help apprehend the perpetrators.

Police, the Local Member and Council will also look at ways to make the community safer.

The NSW Police Force will be seeking to conduct a safety audit of the area, looking at lighting, CCTV and other issues relevant to improving security, with assistance of Parramatta City Council. The community will be involved in this process and will be asked for their input on possible solutions.

Police have set up Operation Moren to investigate this matter and are currently reviewing CCTV and canvassing and working with businesses and the community in Harris Park to seek further assistance.

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to come forward and call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

“Sydney is one of the safest cities in the world and we will do everything possible to ensure Harris Park remains a vibrant and safe destination for everyone,” said Geoff Lee.
