Greece condemns British aid worker’s killing

6Athens, Oct 4 (IANS) Greece Saturday strongly condemned British national Alan Henning’s murder by the Islamic State (IS) militants, following the release of his beheading’s video.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Evangelos Venizelos in a statement called the abhorrent murder of Alan Henning Friday “another irrational act of barbarity and another heinous crime” perpetrated by the group against innocent citizens and civilians, Xinhua reported.

He said the killing strengthens the resolve of the international community and of Greece to do whatever is necessary to bring the perpetrators to justice and obliterate the threat that the IS poses to the peace and prosperity of the wider region.

The IS militant group has claimed responsibility for the beheading of Henning, an aid worker who was held since 2013 by the militants. He was on an aid convoy for Syrian refugees when he was captured by the terrorists.

The extremist militants previously beheaded two US journalists James Foley and Steven Sotloff and British aid worker David Haines and showed the horrifying process to the world in online video footage.
